A sliver of silver in a mould of gold
Is it precious or hard and cold?
A heart that melts like summer-soft butter
Does it soar and will it ?
And if it's sore
Will it love no more?
Are its wings forever broken?
Is its soul a shallow token?
If only echoing pain is spoken
Can its music be reawoken?
Let it heal though it makes you tearful
Let boldness lead you from being fearful
Have faith in goodness and release the doubt
Your sensitivity is special so let it stream out
Unwrap the armour from around your heart
And turn your sweetness into art
Let love wrap you in its heavenly arms
Believe in your worth, your inner charms
The greatest treasure is mettle, not metal
So be who you are, a spirited petal
Unique as a snowflake, a morning sunbeam
Made to be much more than you seem
Listen to your heart's own phoenix song
Be the fire, the colour, the light so strong
Look Inside, look deeply, and you will see
A world of beauty in you and me
I know my novel needs more work if it's going to be all it should be and all I want it to be, so I'm doing stuff with it again... Not that it's been rejected by any publishers, if that's what you're thinking! I want to do the self-publish thing mainly because I feel it should only be impacted by those close to my heart. Meanwhile, you're welcome to read the current draft of the first bit by clicking on the link in my poem above. I would prefer if the rest of the draft isn't read at this point because I am doing quite a bit of editing and I've been adding on to what was originally the end of the book. But thanks to those of you who took the time to read it as it was initially presented. Your positive commentary served to boost my confidence and to encourage me to carry on with this challenging, surprising and even magical project!
